My name is Rocío and I was born in Villaverde de Guareña, a small village in the province of Salamanca, Spain. Art and creativity have always been very present in my life, as a child, I spent much of my time drawing and painting, and whenever I could, I took every opportunity to visit museums.
My passion for painting led me to attend classes for several years at El Taller, directed by Alfredo Omaña. This gave me the opportunity to take part in two exhibitions, En el bosque: una historia de princesas y otras cosas and El hilo rojo, both held at DA2 Domus Artium 2002 in Salamanca between 2017 and 2018, together with my fellow students from El Taller.
In those exhibitions, I participated not only as an artist, but also became involved in the installation process and exhibition design. At that time, I had not yet begun my studies in conservation-restoration, and I could not have imagined that what I then experienced as an artistic opportunity would, years later, become connected to my professional path.
Academic Background
In 2019, I began my studies in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage at the School of Art in Salamanca, where I completed the first two years of the degree. I later moved to León to specialise in painting, a decision closely linked to my lifelong interest in artistic creation. Even so, graphic documents, the specialism available at the School of Art in Salamanca, had always been a field that interested me greatly, to the point that my final degree project eventually focused on a documentary work.
I completed my studies in 2023 and later continued my training in the field of graphic documents through lifelong learning courses at the Complutense University of Madrid. These courses focused on bookbinding techniques, restoration, embossing, cataloguing, and the identification and study of bindings, and were taught by lecturers such as Antonio Carpallo and Javier Tacón, two renowned specialists in the field of documentation sciences in Spain.
Another of my main interests has always been graphic design, communication and the digital world. This curiosity led me to broaden my training in these areas and, later on, to complete a Master’s Degree in Digital Marketing at the International University of La Rioja, which I finished in 2025.
Through these studies, I became particularly interested in social media as a tool for communication and for connecting with new audiences. This also led me to complete, in 2026, a specialisation course in Multimedia Content Production and Distribution at the RTVE Institute, as well as other courses more closely related to the heritage field, such as the Professional Expert Course in Advanced Technologies for the Dissemination and Enhancement of Cultural Heritage at UNED.
Over the years, I have also continued to train in different creative areas, including ceramics, watercolour, photography, artificial intelligence, narrative writing and other fields connected to creation and communication.
Professional Experience
My first professional experience came through the internship I completed as part of my studies in Conservation and Restoration at the Art Deco and Art Nouveau Museum Casa Lis in Salamanca.
There, I joined the museum to carry out tasks related to conservation, cataloguing and the study of intervention and restoration proposals for artworks, focusing especially on the collection of automaton dolls. I also worked with other collections in the museum, including the chryselephantine sculptures and fans.
During this period, my creative and communication-oriented profile also allowed me to collaborate in other areas of the museum, such as the design of social media posts and support in the organisation of cultural activities.
Eventually, the museum commissioned me to design and produce the 2024 collector’s calendar for La Tienda de Lis, inspired by the chryselephantine sculptures and the temporary exhibition The Daughters of Jazz.
After completing my internship, I was offered the opportunity to join the museum, where I worked from April 2023 to April 2024. During this period, I carried out tasks related to visitor assistance, sales, commercial management, updating the online shop, designing marketing strategies and creating materials connected to the museum shop. I also took part in promotional activities, including appearances on provincial television to promote products from La Tienda de Lis.

I later worked at the Madrid Railway Museum under a first professional experience contract in public administration, as a railway heritage conservator from June 2023 to June 2024. There, I carried out tasks related to the cataloguing and documentation of museum objects, the writing of informational texts for exhibitions, the website and the museum magazine, as well as the design and production of temporary exhibitions.
I was also able to further develop an important part of my graphic and audiovisual profile, creating materials for exhibitions such as posters, leaflets, tickets, exhibition labels, banners, social media content and videos intended both for online dissemination and for the screens installed within the exhibition rooms.

During the internship for my Master’s Degree in Digital Marketing, between July and September 2025, I worked at La Gaceta de Salamanca. It was a different experience from the cultural environments in which I had worked until then, but it proved to be especially enriching.
There, I took part in the creation of graphic content for social media and the website, the production and editing of videos for online dissemination, and the scheduling and management of social media content. Although it was outside my comfort zone, this experience allowed me to learn a great deal about the pace of news production, digital communication, social media and audiovisual content creation.
Later on, I worked at the Venancio Blanco Foundation, between November 2025 and February 2026, as coordinator of the exhibition hall and art school. The Santo Domingo de la Cruz Exhibition Hall is a space dedicated to the work of the Salamanca-born sculptor Venancio Blanco and also includes an art school for children and adults. There, I was responsible for coordinating the school, managing activities, overseeing the exhibition space and handling various aspects related to the website, social media and communication for the venue.

Publications
In 2019, I began researching the heritage of Villaverde de Guareña, my home village. This work eventually focused on the Villaverde de Guareña Codex, a piece that preserves the confirmations of royal privileges granted to the municipality from the Catholic Kings of Spain to Ferdinand VII.
This research began as part of my final degree project, presented in 2023, and later led to several lectures and dissemination activities. In 2026, the book El Códice de Villaverde de Guareña: Confirmación de sus privilegios reales desde los Reyes Católicos a Fernando VII [The Villaverde de Guareña Codex. Confirmation of its Royal Privileges from the Catholic Kings of Spain to Ferdinand VII] was published by the Provincial Council of Salamanca. I am co-author of the book together with historians José Luis Martín and Ángel Vaca.

I am currently developing my doctoral thesis at the Complutense University of Madrid, under the supervision of Ana Galán. My research focuses on rural heritage, communication within digital humanities and preventive conservation. My main interest lies in exploring new ways to document, communicate and enhance the value of heritage, especially in rural contexts and in small institutions or those with fewer resources.
